Integral to GLP is the maintenance of an Internal Quality System with regular audit checks. It is governed by EU directive and monitored in the UK by regular inspection visits carried out by the UK GLP Monitoring Authority, which is part of the government’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Data generated in a GLP compliant laboratory is acceptable to drug regulatory authorities worldwide.

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service assesses, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide testing services.
